Bali, Day 5

Fun on the beach

Fun on the beach

Day 5 of the Bali trip was dedicated to having fun on the Beach .We had to rise rather early for the buffet breakfast included in the package and sorely missed the comfort of room ordered breakfast served  till noon ( Nefatari villas had thoroughly spoilt us in this regard !! ) . But with the promise of a fun filled day on the beach ahead of us ,we couldn’t complain for long . Continue reading

Bali ,Day 4

IMG_20121212_141753

After spending three days enjoying the beauties of Ubud , we were ready to explore  other pastures in Bali – namely the beach town of Sanur . Sanur is a tranquil ,lazy town and frequented more by European tourists rather than party loving Australians and youngsters  . The drive from the Nefatari Villas to Sanur was about an hour and a half ,but did not seem half so long, because of the green rice terraces in Ubud and later the sparkling blue waters of Sanur’s coastline , beckoning us . . Bali , Day 2

Waking up refreshed from a good night’s sleep ,the first thing that took our attention was the very natural though adventurous concept of an open air bathroom (the importance of high walls ! ) .The Bathrooms are however very well maintained ,with proper fittings and facilities (though occasionally we were  taken aback by some rather unusual visitors  like a pet cat peeping in during the shower !!) .

One of the highlights  of our stay at Nefatari was their scrumptious unlimited breakfast ,served in the Villa  or outside by  the poolside – delicious pineapple and banana pancakes ,French toast and eggs in different styles , freshly cooked and served with the famed Balinese pleasantness by the helpers .  After lazing around the pool and our room for some time ,we soon headed out for  lunch and to explore the interesting town of Ubud .

Bali ,Day 1

We travelled in December 2012 from Delhi to the exotic and beautiful island of Bali for Six nights . After   two exhausting flights from Delhi to Thailand and Thailand to Bali , nearing a travel time of nearly 12 hours ,we were quite tired by the time we  landed there  . But within a few minutes of our arrival ,  the warmth and beauty of this island, charmed  us .Right outside the Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar (Southern Bali ) ,there is an eye catching statue of the “ flying warrior “ ( I came to understand later that it depicts a scene from Mahabharata and the idol is that of Ghatotkacha ,who was Bhima’s son ) . Bali is dotted with such mesmerizing statues all over , most of them inspired from mythological characters and many Hindu Gods and Goddesses .
